LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING
NYPD Explorer Post 2122
HOW WE TRAIN
Utilizing a hands-on approach, our explorers learn the fundamentals of Law Enforcement in a controlled setting. Through many diverse scenarios with unpredictable outcomes, explorers prepare for anything while still keeping the main objective ahead of them. A Small Sample of Scenarios we train for can be viewed below.
SCENARIOS
TRAFFIC STOP

There is no such thing as a routine traffic stop. This scenario starts as a traffic stop for a simple red light violation, speeding, or a running a stop sign. From there, explorers must pull over the offending vehicle, run their information, and (hopefully) have them on their way, deciding to give them a warning or summons, in the event that everything goes smoothly.
JUDGEMENT PISTOL SHOOTING

In this exercise, explorers are presented with a variety of situations mediating an explorer's ability to comprehend and act on a situation, making split-second decisions based on overall judgement and assessment of the situation.

BOMB THREAT

In this scenario, explorers must literally "diffuse" the situation while searching a commercial property after bomb threats have been made to the location. Explorers assess whether the threats are indeed credible and search for any possible explosive devices while attempting to negotiate with the suspected perpetrator and bring everyone inside to safety.

BURGLARY

In this scenario, a home has been burglarized and explorers must apprehend the suspected perpetrator and recover any stolen property.

OFFICER DOWN / EMERGENCY FIRST AID

This scene shows explorers the importance of first aid, as a fellow officer has been injured. Upon waiting for Emergency Medical Services, explorers must render medical aid to the downed officer, and other indiviu=duals, and secure the scene, maintaining scene security and saving lives.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

In this scenario, explorers receive a call of two or more individuals engaged in an altercation at a residence. It is the explorer's job to assess the scene and send everyone "home" without further injury or incident.

WHITE COLLAR CRIME

The scenario of white-collar crime focuses on executing a search warrant based on intelligence gathered about a business, which is believed to be committing or partaking in financially motivated, non-violent crime. It is the team's job to raid the premises and secure the evidence, safely and securely.
